Volunteer

Volunteering is a rewarding way to help the Band!  There are opportunities to participate directly in Band activities and to do the critical work of fundraising.  Use the "Sign me up!" button (which will work soon!) when you're ready to dive in, and check out the rest of the page for more information about how different volunteer opportunities work.

Football Game Concessions
a hotdog, soda, nachos, candy, and pizza

Band Boosters run the concession stands and keep a significant portion of the proceeds. You might run a register, cook some hot dogs, assemble nachos, plate pizza, etc. It isn't hard work, per se, but does require continuous attention and standing. The camaraderie among the boosters is great!

What to know your first time

What to wear: Comfortable clothes and shoes, appropriate for the weather. Maroon and gray are always winners - if you have band spirit wear, even better! Long hair pulled back. Where to go: Arrive at the EMHS football stadium on the east side of campus with enough time to park and get to the main entrance on the west side of the stadium about 5 minutes before your scheduled start time. Tell the ticket-taker at the gate that you are with the Band Boosters and will be helping with the concessions - they will probably have a sign in sheet with your name on it. Don't worry if this feels a little chaotic, it is a high school football game not the NFL. If you signed up to help on the home side, then your are almost there - pretend like you want a hot dog and you'll find it right away. If you signed up to help on the visitor side, take a right and head for the south end zone... then pretend you're on the hunt for pizza and you'll be there in no time. What to do: Introduce yourself to someone working the concession stand, tell them you're there to help, and that it is your first time.

Prop Crew and Logistics

The Prop Crew is a key part of creating the marching show and making each performance successful. Before marching season, you can help design, build, and paint props. During marching season, you can help load props into trucks at the band room before performances, and unload them onsite... along with the occasional field repair when needed!

What to know your first time

What to wear: Comfortable clothes and shoes, appropriate for the weather. Maroon and gray are always winners on performance days. Where to go: Most prop building and loading is done at the EMHS Band Room's loading entrance (looks like a garage door) on the south side of the building. What to do: If you signed up in advance for prop building, you might offer to bring tools - a leader should be able to tell you what is needed. When you arrive, either for building or to help on performance day; introduce yourself to someone, tell them you're there to help with props, and that it is your first time.
