Edmond Memorial Bulldog Band

Tanner Morgan is proud to serve the Edmond Community in his role as Director of Bands at Edmond Memorial High School in Edmond Oklahoma.


Mr. Morgan is an EMHS alumni and a graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Instrumental Music Education. He accepted the position as the Director of Bands at EMHS in the summer of 2023. Previously, Mr. Morgan served as the Choral Director, Jazz Band Director, and Assistant Band Director at Harrah Public Schools, where he was tasked with reestablishing the High School Jazz and Choir Programs. As the Director of Bands at EMHS, Mr. Morgan is responsible for the High School Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble 1, as well as the Historical Brass Program. At Central and Cimarron Middle Schools, Mr. Morgan instructs the 6th and 7th grade brass classes alongside the Middle School Band Directors.

Mr. Morgan has a unique interest in historical instruments and repertoire, and maintains a large collection of instruments from the mid 1860’s. Select Band students perform on these instruments in the Edmond Historical Brass Band; the nation’s only High School Saxhorn Band. The band rehearses year round after school, performing for Memorial Day and Veterans Day, and competes in OSSAA Solo and Ensemble Contest. This brass band recently performed as an honor group in the 2025 OkMEA Fall Conference, and has been featured in Edmond’s Outlook Magazine. Under Mr. Morgan’s leadership, the Edmond Memorial High School Band Program has seen a return to the Bands of America Super Regional in St. Louis, two consecutive OSSAA Sweepstakes awards with the added accent award. His ensembles consistently earn superior ratings at OSSAA contests in Marching, Concert, Jazz, and Chamber Ensemble categories.

Mr. Morgan believes that combining science and history with the music curriculum creates a transformative learning experience for his students, and is proud to offer a well-rounded music education to the Edmond Community.

Kevin McDonald has worked with marching bands in Oklahoma since 1992, and with Memorial's band program as a percussion specialist for roughly 25 years - first as a front ensemble arranger and clinician before being hired by the district to teach English and work with the band program in 2004.

Miky Hellstern is the Color Guard Director for the Edmond Memorial High School Band. A Choctaw High School Color Guard alum, Miky has been teaching since 2016 at schools across central Oklahoma.
